At Bash Global Initiative, we believe true empowerment begins with knowledge, discipline, and a renewed perspective on life. This week, in partnership with PEWOSA SACCO, we engaged with the resilient women of Kasokoso in an inspiring session centered on financial literacy and personal growth.
What is PEWOSA SACCO?
PEWOSA SACCO — Project to Empower Women through Savings and Loan Associations — is a community-based financial cooperative rooted in the Buganda Kingdom’s vision to uplift low-income earners, especially women.
Launched in 2009 by CBS FM with support from the Stromme Foundation, PEWOSA began as a grassroots savings movement. Over the years, it has grown into a fully registered SACCO, officially licensed in 2021, and now serves thousands of members across Uganda.
Operating through group membership, PEWOSA encourages families and communities to save together, access credit, and build financial resilience. With over UGX 8 billion circulating among its members, PEWOSA is more than a financial institution — it is a movement of empowerment.

Financial Literacy: The Power of Saving
During our session, we emphasized that financial growth starts with small, consistent steps. The women learned that:
- Saving, no matter how little, builds long-term security.
- Wise money management is less about what you have today and more about the discipline to plan for tomorrow.

Mindset Shift: Beyond Money
True empowerment also requires a shift in mindset. Together, we explored personal growth and mental resilience, encouraging participants to:
- View money as a tool for growth, not fear.
- Save consistently — small drops create an ocean.
- Avoid negative comparisons and embrace their unique journeys.
- Stay open to change and nurture a hopeful outlook on life.
The Ripple Effect
The atmosphere in Kasokoso was electric. Women shared stories, asked bold questions, and made personal commitments to new habits. It was more than a workshop — it was a turning point.
At Bash Global Initiative, we are proud to partner with organizations like PEWOSA SACCO, whose mission aligns with ours: empowering dreams, building resilient futures, and transforming communities from the inside out.
Together, we are sowing seeds of financial freedom, resilience, and hope — not just in Kasokoso, but across Uganda.
